Elkhart ISD Discovery (G/T) Program Nomination Notice
Elkhart Independent School District’s Discovery (Gifted/Talented) Program offers appropriately modified curriculum which emphasizes creative and divergent thinking skills, critical thinking skills, communication skills, research skills, independent study skills and affective development. The Elkhart ISD Discovery Program focuses on specific subject matter aptitude as well as creative and productive thinking. Each year, parents, guardians, students, teachers, and community members are given the opportunity to nominate students at all four campuses for the Discovery Program. While student nominations may be submitted at any time during the school year, to ensure early identification of gifted students in grades 1-12 and a greater opportunity to participate in Discovery Program activities, the screening period takes place during the fall semester. Kindergarten students will continue to have a winter screening period, which will begin in January 2026.
