Science

Eight grade Science will cover the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills required for 8^th grade.  These skills, which include 6^th, 7^th , and 8^th grade, are bundled into four reporting categories:

• Matter and Energy (atomic structure, Periodic Table, and chemical formulas, reactions, equations)
• Force, Motion and Energy (unbalanced forces, speed, velocity, acceleration, and Newton’s Laws)
• Earth and Space (seasons, lunar cycle, ocean tides, the universe, electromagnetic spectrum, plate tectonics, topography, atmosphere and weather patterns)
• Organisms and Environments (food webs, competition in ecosystems, environmental changes, human dependence & activities on ocean systems)

Concepts will be presented in various ways including lecture, lab, peer grouping and independent work.
